Rangeela is a powerful insecticide that combines Fipronil 4% and Acetamiprid 4% in a convenient pack size of 1 liter, 500 ml, 250 ml, or 100 ml bottles. This insecticide belongs to the phenylpyrazole and neonicotinoid group of insecticides, and it has a dual mode of action that allows for immediate death of targeted pests.
Rangeela is effective against a range of pests, including aphids, thrips, jassids, and whiteflies in cotton and chilli crops. It controls all stages of sucking pests, including eggs, nymphs, and adults, and has ovicidal action. The insecticide has good translaminar action and can control pests present on the lower surface of leaves.
Fipronil works by interfering with nerve impulse transmission, blocking gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)-gated chloride channels in the central nervous system. This results in excess neuronal stimulation, leading to hyperexcitation of the insect's nerves and muscles, severe paralysis, and death of the insect.
Acetamiprid acts as a nicotinic acetylcholine receptor (nAChR) antagonist at the neuronal and neuromuscular junctions of the central nervous system. It disturbs the proper signal transmission system, leading to the excitation of nerve cells, followed by severe paralysis, and finally, the death of the treated insect.
Rangeela is recommended for foliar spray application as soon as the insect population begins to appear in the field but before it reaches the economic threshold level (ETL). The recommended dose should be mixed in 1/4 of the recommended quantity of water to the spray tank with agitation, and the remaining quantity of water should be added with continuous agitation. Uniform coverage is necessary for effective control of insect pests.
When using Rangeela, it is essential to wear safety equipment such as gloves, aprons, and masks. Do not smoke, drink, eat, or chew anything while spraying, and avoid contact with mouth, eyes, and skin. Inhalation of the spray mist, fog, and vapors should also be avoided, and proper bathing should be taken after application. In case of poisoning, no specific antidote is known, and symptomatic treatment is advised.
Rangeela is a suitable insecticide for integrated pest management (IPM) systems, and it is almost compatible with other insecticides. No phytotoxicity has been reported when used as recommended, and the combination of two insecticides eliminates/delays the development of resistance.
