High-Density Fig Farming Success Story in Dhule, Maharashtra

Ex-MLA Mr. Manishdada Jain presents a video on the Anjir Farm of Mr. Chandrashekar Vitthal Chaudhari, a renowned fig farmer known as "Anjirwale Chaudhari" with 15 years of experience. He also runs an Anjeer nursery.

The video showcases a remarkable one-acre high-density plantation of Purandar Pune fig trees. 2100 trees are planted in a 3 feet x 6 feet grid, meticulously pruned to maintain 4-5 shoots each and restrict height. This approach yielded impressive results: 1.5MT in the first year, 2.5MT in the second, and exceeding 3.5MT in the third. Mr. Chaudhari ambitiously targets 12MT, equivalent to 6kg per tree.

Mr. Jain highlights some key points: the entire farm is protected by a fishnet for bird control (an annual expense of Rs. 12,000), and observed fruit cracking indicates overwatering and potential boron deficiency.

Mr. Chaudhari fortunately faces minimal pest issues. He manages them with chemical pesticides for "Tambera" and intermittent marigold planting to suppress nematodes. Notably, he focuses on selling fresh figs directly to bulk buyers at Rs. 60 per kilo on-site, bypassing processing into dried figs, chips, powder, or jams.

This video stands out among similar YouTube content with its unique high-density plantation and Mr. Chaudhari's unconventional approach to marketing. We encourage you to watch the video and appreciate our efforts in creating this summary for your reference. The downloadable content is available here.
